Passport Gang: travel different. A group of men walking through an airport terminal with their luggage.

Passport Gang: real travelers, real adventures, real connections

Passport Gang isn't about escaping your life. It's about expanding it. It's for men who want to see how the rest of the world lives, build real friendships and relationships along the way, and come home sharper than they left. First stamp or fortieth, you're in the right place.

What Passport Gang is, and what it isn't

  • It's a travel resource. The straight version of what a country costs, how long you can stay on a US passport, and what to watch out for, written by people who go.

  • It's about moving through the world as a Black man with confidence, respect and your eyes open.

  • It isn't a pickup manual. Dating can be part of the trip. So are food, language, business, friendships and learning how other places run. Treat people the way you'd want a visitor to treat your sister back home.

Where people start

All twelve countries below are compared side by side in the Country Finder: visa days, monthly budget, English level and flight time.

  • Southeast Asia: Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia. The lowest day-to-day costs on our list and warm weather all year. Count your visa days: Thailand cut visa-free stays to 30 days in September 2026, and Vietnam needs an e-visa.

  • Latin America: Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Costa Rica. Short flights from the US, music and nightlife, big expat communities. Brazil now needs an e-visa before you fly.

  • Caribbean: the Dominican Republic. Close to home, 30 days on arrival, easy to extend.

  • Africa: Kenya. Nairobi has a growing tech and expat scene. Americans need an eTA before flying.

  • East Asia: Japan. Expensive by comparison, very safe, 90 days visa-free.

  • Eastern Europe: Poland and Romania get talked about for lower costs than Western Europe. We haven't added them to the Country Finder yet.

Dating apps people use abroad

  • By country: Filipino Cupid in the Philippines, ThaiFriendly in Thailand, Colombian Cupid in Colombia. Tinder and Bumble work almost everywhere.

  • Set up before you fly. Build your profile at home and use the app's travel or passport feature to see who's in the city you're headed to.

  • First meetings in public. Get there and leave on your own, tell a friend where you are, and don't let anyone else handle your drink. The State Department warns about dating-app setups that end in robbery in Colombia, Brazil and the Dominican Republic.

  • Never send money to someone you haven't met in person, whatever the story is.

Staying safe

  • Getting around: use ride-hail apps instead of unmarked or street taxis, and move in groups late at night.

  • Health and visas: check entry rules, buy travel medical insurance and see a travel clinic before you go. Keep your documents together and backed up.

  • Money: use ATMs inside banks or malls, tell your bank you're traveling, carry a backup card and keep an emergency fund.

  • The Trip-Prep Toolkit has the full checklist, entry forms and emergency numbers for every country we cover.

Questions we get a lot

What's the difference between Passport Bros Society and Passport Gang?

Passport Bros Society is the polished side: tailored style, culture and high-end experiences. Passport Gang is the street-level side: real travelers, real budgets, real stories. Both are about living bigger and seeing the world for yourself.

Is Passport Gang just about dating?

No. Dating is one part of it for some people. Travel, culture, business and personal growth are the rest.

Which country should I start with?

Start with what you want. Beaches and low costs point to Southeast Asia. Culture, nightlife and short flights point to Latin America. The Country Finder lets you filter by region, budget and visa rules.

What does a month cost?

For one person, our 2026 numbers run from about $700 a month in Indonesia to about $2,150 for a comfortable month in Tokyo. Most countries on our list land between $1,000 and $1,800. Every country page shows where the numbers come from.

Do I need a visa?

On a US passport, Brazil, Vietnam and Kenya need an e-visa or travel authorization before you fly. Indonesia sells a visa on arrival. The rest let you in visa-free for 30 to 180 days. For longer stays you'll need a long-stay or digital nomad visa; each country page covers the options.

18+ only

Passport Gang is for adults. We don't publish anything that helps anyone buy sex, and we report exploitation. If you see someone who looks underage or controlled by someone else, call the local police or the US National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888.
